Description.
The alloy has been used in "nonstandard" thermocouples, electrical contacts and for electrodes in medical research. The alloy is harder and mechanically stronger than Platinum.
This wire features a 90% Platinum and 10% Iridium composition and is widely used in the assembly of microelectrode probes. Iridium, a Platinum group metal, is very dense and hard, imparting added strength to the wire.
PtIr 5,PtIr10,PtIr15,PtIr20,PtIr25 resistivity: 0.19-0.33 µOhm.m
